New Delhi, June 25: Muslims in Bangladesh On Sunday will be all set to witness the first sight of the moon on Sunday to celebrate Eid Al-Fitr the following day. The eight divisions of Bangladesh Barisal, Chittagong, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Rajshahi, Rangpur will observe Chand Raat tonight. Many Muslim countries will be celebrating Eid today. As per Dhaka Tribune, many Bangladeshi’s prefer to travel to India for Eid shopping and this year it is expected that 150,000 people will make a round trip. The figure was even more than 150,000 in 2016. According to Bangladesh shop owners’ association chief, Md Helal Uddin India had issued additional 100,000 visas last year. Most of the people from Bangladesh rush to the capital city of West Bengal, Kolkata as the metro city is closer from their country.
Security has been beefed up in Dhaka and police has asked people to not to carry anything other than mats. AS per BDNews, the DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia yesterday stated that people will be thoroughly checked and he also requested citizens to co-operate at National Eidgah in Dhaka for the Eid-ul-Fitr congregation. Here President, Ministers and many other VVIPs mark their attendance. This place can accommodate around 84,000 people.
“Everyone has to go through a search before entering and we request citizens to cooperate with the security personnel,” DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia told the media on Saturday.
