Do I need to know how to dance?
We use dance movements and workout to music but you do not need dance experience. You just need a great attitude and a willingness to try something new!
Who can participate?
Zumba fitness classes are for participants of varying ages and fitness abilities. Whether you are an avid exerciser who wants to spice up your current fitness routine or you are rejoining the fitness scene after a break
Zumba fitness classes are for you!
What if I can't follow the steps at first?
The great thing about Zumba is that there are few rules: just dance a little, laugh a little, sweat a lot, and just keep moving! Just have fun with this class. Each class you take builds on another, with time and practice, you will pick up the moves, and learn to anticipate new moves!
What should I wear or bring to class?
Wear comfortable, lightweight clothing that breathes. Feel free to bring a sweatshirt or jacket to wear at first, but expect to take it off after the warm-up! Most students wear yoga pants or capris and shirts that flow easily with movement. Bring a bottle of water with you!
I haven't exercised in awhile; will I still be able to keep up?
Go at your own pace. The class is structured so that the beginner and more advanced level students can work at the same time. Everyone in class is coming from different fitness and health backgrounds.
What shoes should I wear?
You'll have a better idea of your shoe preference after your first class. I strongly recommend cross training shoes, or shoes with little traction on the bottom.
My first pair of Zumba shoes were Pumas—I loved them, and wore them for a long time!
I've also sported a pair of Adidas—they worked really well for me!
Now, I wear Zumba's Z-Kickz .
Every person is different—it's a good idea to try the shoes on in the store—practice a few Zumba moves, and see how you feel! It's really whatever makes you comfortable. Be kind to your feet!
