extensions There have been a lot of great looks on the Globes red carpet so far, but Kerry Washington's Golden Globes 2017 hair is absolutely magical—shiny, sleek, and, what's more, better from the back than from the front. As if that could be possible anyway, right? But as you'd imagine, the flawless-faced Olivia Pope totally handled her look. (And we have a glass of red wine in hand as we know she would.)
Because from the front, the Scandal star appeared to have a classic red-carpet look: a sleek, straight style (which immediately had us thinking about buying 2016's Best of Beauty-winning flatiron), dressed up with supersubtle blonde highlights. So pretty, but nothing crazy or anything. When she turned around, though, we saw a whole slew of blonde highlights, with some of the ends dip-dyed the same buttery hue. It was as if someone had cast a magic wand through her hair, splaying a bit of sparkle throughout an otherwise simple, yet chic, look.

Washington's hairstylist Takisha Sturdivant-Drew felt that her "elaborate" Dolce & Gabbana gown would work best with "a very simplistic, sleek, smoothed out hairstyle with color and very slight body in the hair."
But wait, you might be thinking—hairstylist? Why'd you ask her hairstylist? Isn't this about her highlights? Where's her colorist? Turns out Strudiant-Drew just used extensions, and Washington hasn't actually dyed her hair at all (at least for right now). Well-played, right?

When styling Washington's hair, she started by parting Washington's hair on the left side (she felt looked better with her gown). Strudiant-Drew then sectioned off the hair at the nape of the neck and clipped in TSD Hair Extensions—some a soft brown, others blonde. The result: a sophisticated, yet totally edgy style that nailed the party-chic vibe of Globes themselves.
To get Kerry Washington's Golden Globes 2017 hair look (which we've dubbed the perfectly-straight-but-still-has-a-bit-of-body look), blow-dry hair using a round brush to pull hair straight. After completely dry, spritz in a heat protectant like
Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Heat/UV Protective Primer
To finish, simply glide a flatiron through one-inch sections of hair. Strudiant-Drew used the
GHD White Platinum Styler
"I love this flat iron because of it's even heat and all you need is one stroke across the hair to smooth it out," she says.
If this isn't business in the front and party in the back, we don't know what is.
